When we were made in God’s image, we received several characteristics that God possesses, but ours are imperfect. One such characteristic is compassion. Exodus 34:6 reads, “The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” As such, we too are to be compassionate and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness, but we can only be this way by overcoming the distractions of the world and by keeping the main thing the main thing… and that is by loving the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Do our actions convey a deep compassion and love of others?
