Day 2: Peace Isn’t Just a Feeling—It’s a Person

Peace Isn’t Just a Feeling—It’s a Person

Read: John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)”

December can feel like a tangle of calendars, expectations, and expenses. We often treat peace like perfect conditions: no conflict, no traffic, no surprises. But Jesus doesn’t offer peaceful circumstances; He gives Himself. His peace is a presence that holds when plans shift and emotions swing. The night before the cross, He promised His disciples a kind of peace the world can’t manufacture or steal.

Receiving that peace is less about control and more about surrender. Breathe a simple prayer: “Jesus, be my peace.” Let that prayer interrupt worry in the car line, anxious math at the kitchen table, or awkward family tension. Parents—model this for your kids. When you choose calm over panic and gentleness over hurry, you’re teaching them what it looks like to Know Christ in real time.

At Creekside, we believe peace overflows into relationships—that’s how we Grow in Community. Christ’s peace in you can become Christ’s peace through you: a steady word, a patient tone, a forgiving response. He is our peace—today.

Reflect:

  • Where do you most need Jesus’ peace to meet you today?
  • What would change if you invited His presence into that exact space every time anxiety rises?
