Day 7: The God Who Lifts the Lowly
The God Who Lifts the Lowly
Read: Luke 1:46–55
“He has lifted up the humble. (Luke 1:52)”
Mary’s song isn’t self-promotion; it’s God-exaltation. She marvels that the Mighty One notices a nobody from Nazareth and weaves her small story into His great redemption. That is God’s pattern: He resists the proud and lifts the humble. He uses the overlooked to showcase His mercy.
Advent re-frames success. It’s not bigger, better, busier; it’s lower, slower, softer. Humility looks like listening first, confessing quickly, and choosing service over status. Parents, model this in conflict. “I’m sorry. I was wrong.” Those words disciple hearts faster than lectures ever will.
At Creekside, we Grow in Community by going low—honoring others above ourselves. When we descend, God lifts others, and in lifting them, He lifts us into joy. Follow Mary’s lead: magnify the Lord, and watch pride shrink to size.
Reflect:
- Where can you practice a quiet act of humility today?
- Who might God be inviting you to honor above yourself this week?
