Advent comes from the Latin word meaning “coming” or “arrival.” In this season, we remember the words of the prophets who foretold the birth of Christ (Isaiah 9:6–7) and rejoice in the fulfillment of God’s promise: that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). As the people of God, we gather—both in our church family and in our homes—to celebrate His first coming with gratitude and awe.
At the same time, we hold fast to His promise that He will come again (Revelation 22:20). So we look back on God’s unfailing faithfulness and look forward in hope-filled anticipation, trusting that “He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23). May this Advent season be filled with the peace of Christ, the joy of His salvation, and the steadfast hope that anchors our souls in Him.
