Day 4: God Moves Through Ordinary Yeses
December 4
God Moves Through Ordinary Yeses
Read: Matthew 1:18–25
“Joseph… did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him. (Matthew 1:24)”
Joseph doesn’t speak a single recorded word in Scripture, yet his obedience speaks loudly. He chooses faith over reputation, compassion over self-protection, and obedience over convenience. No platform. No spotlight. Just a quiet, costly “yes.” And that “yes” guarded the Holy Family and fulfilled prophecy.
Most Kingdom work looks like that—ordinary faithfulness in carpools, classrooms, kitchens, offices, and checkout lines. When you forgive first, tell the truth, keep a promise, or serve without credit, you are preparing the way for Jesus in your home and neighborhood. Parents, your daily “yes” is discipling your children more than you realize.
At Creekside we say everyone can Go with Compassion. Often compassion looks like presence—showing up when it’s hard and staying when it’s costly. Ask the Lord for one specific way to practice a Joseph-style obedience today and do it, even if no one notices but Him.
Reflect:
- Where is Jesus asking you for an ordinary but costly “yes”?
- Who needs your faithful presence this week?
