Demonstrating Love for God’s Kingdom

  -

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce. (Proverbs 3:9)

Yesterday we saw that where our treasure is, there our heart will be (Matthew 6:19-21). Today we explore what it looks like to honor God first with what He has given us

We are called to invest in God’s kingdom—through service, generosity, and discipleship—we declare that our hearts belong to Him. Honoring the Lord with our resources is an act of worship, a way of saying, “God, You come first.”

Demonstrating love for God’s kingdom means aligning our priorities with His mission. Whether it’s supporting expanding ministry spaces for children and adults or new church signage that welcomes guests, every step reflects our desire to see more people encounter Jesus. These investments are not earthly expenses—they are eternal deposits.

In the Old Testament, the Lord asked His people to give Him their first and their best. Are you honoring God with your firstfruits, or are you giving him your leftovers?

Where our treasure goes, our hearts follow. When we give toward kingdom work, our hearts grow more tender toward the things God cares about most: people, salvation, and spiritual transformation.

Reflection:

  1. What does your current use of resources (time, money, energy) reveal about what you treasure most?
  2. How can you honor God more intentionally with your firstfruits?

Prayer:

Gracious heavenly Father, help me to value what you value. Show me where my heart is misaligned and how I can honor you in all that I say and do. In Jesus name, amen.

Vision Nights:

Join us for one of two identical Visions Nights on Wednesday, February 11th or February 18th at 6:30 PM in the Worship Center, where we’ll share about the heart and vision of the Overflow Initiative. This is a great opportunity to hear details and ask questions. Creekside Kids will be available for children’s programming.
